In-Person Lab Training: What Is It All About?

What does it really mean to learn CNA skills in person—and why does it matter? In-person lab training is where your knowledge begins to come to life. Instead of just reading or watching lessons online, you step into a supervised environment where you can actually practice what you’ve learned. This hands-on portion of the program gives you the opportunity to develop essential caregiving skills in a structured, supportive setting as you work toward becoming a certified nurse assistant in Colorado.

At Colorado CNA School, in-person lab training can begin alongside your online coursework. That means you don’t have to wait to start building real-world skills—you can begin early and progress with confidence. During lab sessions, students observe instructor demonstrations, practice procedures step by step, and receive immediate feedback to improve their technique.

This part of the training focuses on core CNA responsibilities such as patient positioning, hygiene assistance, vital signs monitoring, and safe transfer techniques. Using modern simulation equipment, students gain practical experience that closely reflects real healthcare scenarios. With guidance from experienced instructors, you can refine your skills, ask questions, and build confidence before moving into a clinical setting.

Lab training is completed through six scheduled four-hour sessions, totaling 24 hours. This structured format allows you to stay focused while steadily building your abilities. By the end of your lab experience, you’ll feel more prepared to provide safe, compassionate care in real-life situations.
